Welcome to Malvern Community Kitchen

Why?

Most of us will have times in our lives when things just haven’t gone to plan, money is tight and we could do with a helping hand.  Equally, in our Victorian Spa town there are many local people who have plenty of money and can afford to help out others who are going through a tough patch.  I believe we should be doing better to look after each other as a community:  and that’s where the idea for the Malvern Community Kitchen project started.

What?

Malvern Community Kitchen prepares freshly cooked, nutritious and tasty food, such as chicken curries (very mild), pasta bakes and spaghetti bolognese twice each week, for local families with children who could do with a helping hand at the moment.  We cook more than we need every week, but all our excess food goes into the Community Fridge and Community Pantry projects run at these locations:  nothing is wasted. Our intention is that the Community Kitchen should feel as much like taking the family out for dinner as possible and an opportunity to socialise with other local families.  We ask for a contribution of £1 per adult, children free.

When?

Every Monday at The Octagon Centre, Poolbrook and Wednesday at St Mary’s Pickersleigh from 4:30-5:00pm - all year round (including school holidays).  We cook plenty of food each week, so no need to tell us you are coming in advance - just come along with your family.  We always have a vegan options.  If you or your children have any other dietary requirements, pop in on a Monday or Wednesday afternoon to discuss this with our chef and we will do our best to cater for you.

Our Future?

Over time, we hope that some of the community joining us at the Community Kitchen might be interested in getting involved in helping to organise and run the Community Kitchen project itself, including deciding how we could best expand for our local community.  Ideas include cooking courses and homework clubs:  but we want to be guided by local families before deciding our future direction.

Considering Sponsoring Malvern Community Kitchen?

One off donations make it difficult to plan for the future, so we are encouraging regular monthly donations by standing order, however small:  just £2 or £3 per month will soon mount up, if enough people support us.  If you run a successful local businesses, or you’re a local individual who can afford to, please do consider setting up a standing order.
